Many people put off writing a resume because they feel overwhelmed, or may believe they lack the experience to actually do it.  Some may tend to be perfectionists; and avoid trying to write something less than perfect.  Others take the path of procrastination rather than atempting to put a resume together.  My advice is just start writing.  Write down everything you do in your most recent job; and don't worry about sentence structure right now.  You can always edit the resume later or obtain the assistance of a career counselor to help with the wording and format.  If you have never been employed, include life experience, volunteer or community work.  Don't dismiss your experience just because it has been non-paid.  Especially in this economy, it is not unusual to have some gaps in work history.

There are times in life when obstacles are thrown in your path that test and challenge one's character; and we are certaintly living in these times.  

I have learned through my own personal and professional experience, that there can be opportunities for growth and learning during difficult times.  However, often we are so focused on our problems, that we fail to recognize the opportunites presented to us.  

There is a quote by Alexander Graham Bell that summarizes the challenge of recognizing opportunity amidst uncertainty:  

"When one door closes another door opens; but often we look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door, that we do not see the ones which open for us." 

Of course, during any transition period, we are bound to experience a myriad of feelings: including fear, anxiety, uncertainty, even depression.  All of these feelings are a natural reaction.   During these turbulent times, it can be extremely beneficial to receive support from a professional, someone who is not emotionally connected to your situation, and can provide an objective perspective.  

Please know that we are here to help you navigate through life's challenges during these very difficult and uncertain times.
